BRAND NEW KIT
Production starts 20th January'25. Shipping from mid February
Also known as the Berg Fighter, designed by Julius von Berg in 1916, the name distinguished the aircraft from the D.I fighter built by the parent Aviatik firm in Germany.
This single-engine, single-seater biplane was the first locally designed aircraft to be adopted by the Austro-Hungarian Air Service.
Much of the airframe was as simplified as possible in order to make the type easier to manufacture and capable of being produced in relatively small facilities. However, the wing aerofoil section was innovative, in that it had reflex curvature towards its trailing edge, allowing the wing to flex under higher loads from gust or sudden changes in pressure.
These features contributed to the D.I's high level of stability, without undermining its responsiveness to control inputs.
The Aviatik (Berg) D.I proved to be a good combat aircraft amongst its contemporaries. It was a reasonably fast aircraft, possessing excellent flying characteristics and manoeuvrability, and could reach higher altitudes than most of its adversaries.
The Austro-Hungarian aviation units used the D.I widely until the end of the First World War on Eastern, Italian and Balkan fronts, mainly as an escort for reconnaissance aircraft.
This particular aircraft flew with the Fliegerkompagnie 63J, Portobuffole, Italy in the summer 1918.
3D PRINTED PARTS AS STANDARD
The Aviatik Berg D.I kit is the first in the Microaces AERO range to come standard with a raft of 3D printed parts that adds an unprecidented level of scale detail to a micro RC model.
This includes the exposed parts of the Austro-Daimler 6 engine, Schwarzlose MG.07 machine guns and radiator cap.
Selecting the right receiver to complete your kit:
The Microaces AIO 5CH micro receiver is available with the following protocols. If unsure, check your transmitter instruction manual to find out which protocol(s) it uses. Then select the compatible receiver protocol below to view the appropriate receiver to add to your order.
DSM2/X Compat. | S-FHSS Compat. | FrSky D8 Compat. | FrSky D16 Compat. | AFHDS 2A Compat. |
3D Printed Pilots
A fantastic enhancement to the kit, that really upgrades the level of realism is a 3 dimensional pilot. We've added to the existing range with a subtle change to the German pilot figure to better represent the pilots of the Austro-Hungarian Air Force.
